Formed in 2002 to continue the Pacific Northwest Private Client Services practice at Andersen, RAUPC helps individuals and families maximize their wealth and preserve it for future generations. Our holistic, comprehensive and objective approach considers all aspects of wealth accumulation and its impacts on the individual and the family. For business owners and entrepreneurs, we develop strategies that integrate their personal financial objectives with the needs of the business.

Biographies

Robert A. Underhill
Bob graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in Accounting and Law. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and the Washington Society of CPAs. He spent nearly 25 years with Arthur Andersen, heading its Pacific Northwest Private Client Services practice since moving to Seattle in 1989. Bob is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle and has served on the Washington CPA Society's board of trustees, having chaired the latter's Government Affairs committee. He is past president of the Society. He is a member of the board of directors of the Harbor Clubs and is a mentor in Seattle University's School of Business. He has spoken at professional seminars on legislative and estate planning topics and teaches real estate taxation in the University of Washington extension program.

Rainie M. McLaughlin
Rainie is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. While attending MSU, she earned a B.S. in Business, accounting option and a Master of Professional Accountancy. She worked at Arthur Andersen for several years, focusing on corporate and partnership tax compliance. She is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Jason M. Hanson
Jason earned his B.A. at The Ohio State University and received his J.D. cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He went on to receive his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law. After several years with Arthur Andersen's Private Client Services practice, he now concentrates his practice in the areas of estate and wealth transfer planning, business formation and advisory, and individual tax issues. Jason has spoken at professional seminars on the topics of estate planning and business formation and is a member of the Real Property, Probate & Trust, Guardianship and Elderlaw, and Solo-Small Firm Sections of the King County Bar Association and the Taxation Section of the Washington State Bar Association.

Michelle Lindblom
Michelle earned her B.A. from the University of Washington. She worked at Arthur Andersen for 12 years where she focused on the tax issues surrounding closely held businesses. She has extensive experience with pass-through entities, with an emphasis on real estate. She is a licensed Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service.

Derek F. Hayner
Derek earned a B.A. in Economics from Whitman College and received a Master's in Professional Accounting in Taxation and his MBA from the University of Washington. He worked at Arthur Andersen and KPMG for several years, focusing on corporate and flow-through entities. He is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Brandi D. Fruik
Brandi is a graduate of the University of Washington. While attending UW, she earned a B.A. in Business, with an emphasis in Accounting, and a B.S. in Psychology. She recently passed the CPA exam and is working towards completing the experience requirement necessary to become licensed. She is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Matthew E. Goodwin
Matt graduated from the University of Washington in 2007, with a B.A. In Business Administration, magna cum laude. He earned a double concentration in Accounting and Finance. Matt Joined RAUPC as an intern in his senior year and is currently studying for his CPA exam.
